How to join the #TeamHonkDanceathon for Red Nose Day

Dancing in the Streets
For the last three years bloggers, tweeters and friends have come together under the umbrella of Team Honk to do something funny to raise money for Comic Relief. In 2013 we climbed Snowdon, chopped off hair, rode bikes, baked cakes. We raised nearly £10,000.  In 2014 the relay united over 200 bloggers and friends, to travel from Lands End to John O Groats, raising nearly £32,000. Team Honk is growing. In 2015 we just wanted to unite as many people as possible on one day and raise, wait for it, £50,000.

We Need you!

Comic Relief really value the way bloggers help to raise funds AND awareness of the many causes Comic Relief support, so have set aside up to 500 places for Team Honk at the Red Nose Day Danceathon, at Wembley!

Yes, we can officially reveal we are going to be boogying down at Wembley, the iconic setting to Live Aid and a billion amazing gigs (and some sport stuff too!)

Reckon you can dance non-stop for 6 hours? When? Where?

500 Honkers can join the non-stop dance frenzy on Sunday 8th March at The SSE Arena, Wembley, with the official dancing happening from 12-6pm. We really hope you can make Wembley, but, the event will also be live streamed to locations across the country, and to your front room (more on other ways to fundraise below).

We can’t imagine a more fun way to raise money!

Claudia Winkleman will present and will be joined by a host of stars and the UK’s dance glitterati, including some familiar faces from the dance world; Arlene Phillips, Chelsee Healey, Rachel Riley, Rufus Hound and Zoe Ball, BBC Radio 2’s Jo Whiley and Got to Dance’s Adam Garcia and Kimberly Wyatt, and more great names to be announced over the coming weeks.

The dance style and teacher will be changing every 30 minutes. They’ll cover 50’s jive, 60’s swing, 70’s disco, 80’s anthems, Street dance, Latin, Hip-hop, Bollywood and West End Musicals. Shimmying stars will take to the stage to keep fundraisers’ spirits high, dance feet moving and pounds pouring in for Red Nose Day.

How do I sign up?

STEP ONE

Team Honk have a special sign up option on this page HERE Password: Danceathon2015

It costs just £10 to register. Comic Relief ask that you raise at least £150.  We know from previous experience that is easily achievable for most. £150 x 500 makes £75,000. But £200 x 500 is £100,000, 500 x £300 =£150,000. It soon scales up!

STEP TWO

Register for your giving page for all your lovely sponsors to sponsor you.   You should get to a page that asks if you want to join an existing team.  Say YES and search Team Honk.    If you don’t find it, the link is here:
