The Week in Honking – Week One of the #teamhonkrelay

We are now one week into the Team Honk Relay and what better way  to celebrate than to look back at what an amazing week it’s been, not only for the wonderful things that bloggers, their friends and family have been doing but also for raising £3639 , a whopping 18% of our overall target!
The week started out in fine style in Cornwall with Pippa from Story of Mum with friends and family walking the baton to Penzance…

Team Honk Penzance does Lands End!

After which they jumped on a train to Truro – and many thanks to First Great Western for supporting their train travel costs. The baton then passed to Jackie Murray who took it to Fiona from Coombe Mill and family who dressed up and took the baton to Zoe from Mama Geek and Lara from Trails of the Unexpected.

Lara’s husband James and his cycling friend Stu Mitchell then cycled the baton 27 miles from Camelford to Morwenstow, where they met Lara and some of the Caked In Mud crew to take it on the last leg of that days journey. And what a leg it was – wind, rain and even darkness descended as they ran 9 miles along a coastal path to finally meet Jenny  of Mummy Mishaps who was the handover for the Somerset leg.

The Somerset leg was spread over two days and involved some very funny fancy dress and lot of ‘horse play’!

With madcap japes from  Victoria from Verily Victoria VocalisesMummy Mishaps and Gina from Cold Tea and Smelly Nappies  doing the rounds of Taunton dressed in silly costumes to begin with before Victoria headed to  Bridgwater to Nik Nak from Through Niks Lens to do the rounds. The next day Victoria rode her inflatable horse to St Bartholomews school in Crewkerne met by excitable school children. Finally Victoria then visited  Dorchester where she met Sonya from The Ramblings of a Formerly Rock n Roll Mum. Smashing work by all – and much love to Victoria who soldiered on with a painful shoulder throughout.

Next up was the Bournemouth leg! With Sonya from The Ramblings of a Formerly Rock n Roll Mum and Lynn from A Slice of Lemon’s Cake  leaving Dorchester to take the baton in very pink and red rock n rock stylee to Blandford to meet Kirsty and Clara from My Two Mums.

Kirsty was scooting in a onesie ( a potential new passtime for her we suspect!) and they all enjoyed a lap around Bradbury rings before driving to Wimborne where Clara scooted and met Joanne From Charliemoos . Joanne then took the baton by bike, pushing herself to her limits and passed it to Kara from ChelseaMamma . Kara didcarred and scooted miles along the promenade in wind and rain…

That evening the baton was passed to Karen from Tales of a Twin Mum at Tootis Gelato Bar in Southampton along with a little gathering of bloggers and friends. They enjoyed indulging in 2 yummy Sundaes that Tootis have kindly created to mark Sport Relief – £1 of each of these 2 special sundaes bought until the end of March will be donated to Sport Relief, do check them out in Bedford Place, Southampton. And many thanks for Steph for helping to arrange this.
