More tips from fundraisers, for fundraisers. Helen from The Crazy Kitchen hasn’t done her stint yet, but has some fab ideas for raising your game, bake sales and involving schools.
I decided on a whim, in an attempt to boost our team sponsorship total, to offer to wear my new Cookie Monster onesie to school for the school run, both morning and afternoon, once I had personally raised £100 in sponsorship. I updated my Facebook status with my promise and sat back to see if anyone would take me up on it. It would appear that people love to see me make a fool of myself and the money came flooding in and to date stands at over £250 from family and friends (my own son even sponsored me!).
During the afternoon school run I popped in to see the Preschool children and give them all a cookie from the Cookie Monster. Each cookie was wrapped with a ‘giving page card‘ attached, which can be downloaded from the Sport Relief website, along with a note and link to the team Honk website so everyone would know what it was all about.
Each Facebook friend that sponsored me I thanked publicly in a status (as per Penny’s tips) and this seemed to encourage others to do the same. I have also been putting on the odd status about my cycle training, another of Penny’s tips, so that friends and family can see that I’m really making an effort for this relay.
I will be holding a bake sale in the local pub once the baton reaches our village and have ordered some rice paper cake toppers with TEXT HONK to 70005 printed on them to further encourage donations.
